Dr Fang Chee-Mun is an Associate Professor at Monash University Malaysia, specialising in immunology, microbiology, and biomedical sciences. He obtained his PhD in Vaccinology from the University of Malaya and subsequently completed postdoctoral training at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and Johns Hopkins University in the United States.

Dr Fang has an established research profile with publications spanning antimicrobial resistance, vaccine development, cancer biology, and natural bioactive compounds. His work focuses on translational and interdisciplinary approaches to address current challenges in infectious diseases and cancer.

In addition to his research, Dr Fang has held key academic leadership roles, including Programme Director for Biomedical Sciences and Chair of the Institutional Biosafety Committee at the University of Nottingham Malaysia. He is actively engaged in postgraduate supervision and mentorship, contributing to the development of future researchers in the biomedical sciences.

Dr Fang is a Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Science (UK) and the Higher Education Academy (UK). He also serves on editorial boards and acts as a reviewer for a range of international journals, supporting the advancement of research and education in the biomedical field.

My research expertise lies at the intersection of immunology, microbiology, and pharmacology. I specialize in vaccine development and translational immunology, focusing on designing effective immunogens and understanding host-pathogen interactions to prevent infectious disease.

A second major focus is combating antimicrobial resistance and ensuring food safety through novel antimicrobial strategies, including alternative therapeutics and resistance surveillance.

Finally, I investigate the pharmacology of bioactive compounds in cancer and immunity, exploring how natural and synthetic molecules modulate tumour biology and immune responses. By bridging preclinical drug discovery with translational applications, my work aims to develop innovative interventions that enhance human health—ranging from next-generation vaccines and antimicrobials to targeted cancer therapies that harness the power of the immune system.
