Abstract

The recent profusion of new historical writing in Australia and New Zealand has corrected a narrow parochialism of content and approach, and increased interdisciplinary cooperation has presented many opportunities for growth in historical geography. But the local specialists have been too thinly distributed to meet more than a small part of the challenge and the gap is being filled by convergences and expansions in economic, social, urban and environmental history.
