Abstract

This handbook has introduced how School-wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) is being implemented in Australian education settings. As the scale of adoption of this ecosystem grows, so too does the challenge of ensuring it is being implemented with fidelity. This chapter explores the core features that are essential for the sustainable implementation of SWPBS. For those who work in settings where SWPBS is not being implemented, this chapter proposes steps to determine the readiness for adopting and installing it. For those who work in a district, regional, or state role supporting one or more schools to implement SWPBS, the authors discuss effective leadership and coaching practices to support its durable implementation, and how to scale (or expand) its application across educational settings. They conclude by offering lessons from the adoption of SWPBS to date, with areas identified for future research to enhance the readiness, sustainability, and scale of its implementation in, and across, Australian educational settings.
