Use your words: responding to provocations on poetry and pedagogy

Research output: Contribution to journalArticleOtherpeer-review

Abstract

The principles and provocations provided by Dr. Creely push me to re-explore my own thoughts and feelings about poetry, pedagogy, and youth. I'm an academic, researcher and teacher-educator now, and also a poet. I'm no longer deeply immersed day-to-day in the hot and sweaty, emotional chaos, exhilaration, terror, and extraordinary potential of classrooms full of adolescent beings. But that doesn't mean I don't care about what happens there; on the contrary, I am deeply concerned. Searching for a way to engage with and contribute to the themes of this special issue I'm drawn to my own bookshelf and to poems I've lived with for years, like 'Dropout' by John Griffin.
