Abstract

The use of layered silicates to supplementarily toughen high performance epoxy-carbon fiber composites was investigated. The carbon fiber content of each system was determined to confirm that all fiber panels are within a fiber concentration range that allows comparison between the different materials. The fiber volume in the composite series showed very good consistency at 49 ± 1 vol% fiber.
