Unipolar electron transport polymers: a thiazole based all-electron acceptor approach

Abstract

A study discusses copolymerization of the bithiazole distannane monomer with a brominated dithiazolediketopyrrolopyrrole (DTzDPP), to afford a unipolar, all-acceptor, n-channel conjugated polymer, poly-(diketopyrrolopyrrole-tetrathiazole), PDPP4Tz. This polymer is among only a few reported cases of unipolar electron transport, n-channel polymers, such as preliminary OFET characterization points to PDDP4Tz possessing promising macroscale, and unipolar field-effect electron mobility. This study also demonstrates the feasibility of coupling the electron withdrawing bithiazole distannane with other brominated electron acceptors to afford unipolar nchannel polymers.
