Abstract
The chapters in this book illustrate a range of approaches to self-study that have been initiated and conducted as a result of the importance of the question at the heart of each author’s study. However, to place this work in perspective, it is helpful to outline how self-study has developed over time, while maintaining important features that are common even in the diversity of studies documented in this text.
