Abstract

The report released from The National Inquiry into Literacy Teaching in Australia, Teaching Reading is inquired into in the context of widespread neo-liberal agendas in education policy in Australia and other western countries. These kinds of reports pose a threat to English teachers? professionalism in Australia as they use Teaching Reading as a prompt for a professional conversation.
