"There's something a little bit different going on out here": Alcohol and other drug recovery in the urban-rural interface in Victoria, Australia

Research output: Contribution to conferenceAbstractpeer-review

Abstract

This presentation shares Katrin’s PhD research findings exploring alcohol and other drug recovery within an urban-rural region on Melbourne’s outer fringe. Firstly, the presentation will highlight how spatial, cultural, and political environments mediate recovery experiences. Secondly, the presentation will reflect on implications for treatment, including expanding beyond approaches that solely focus on individual behaviour changes. This may be done through recognising and engaging with tendencies, linkages, resources, and place-based influences.
