Feature reviews 'One Crazy Cuckoo', Vogue Living Australia, September/October 2016 pp 155-161; 'Birdland', Inside: Interior Design Review, Issue 92, July/August 2016, pp 72-77; 'Theodore Treehouse', Artichoke, Issue 55, 2016, pp 62-64; 'Amazing Design: Matthew Bird's Toorak apartment', Domain Group Fairfax Media, 1 October 2016; 'Victorian homes with {"}bold, brave{"} interiors up for Australian Interior Design Awards', Herald Sun, 26 May 2016; 'Bold Victorian homes win at the Australian Interior Design Awards', Herald Sun, 11 June 2016; 'Decor awards 2016: Bunnings bling', Issimo Magazine, 2016. This project throws caution and perceived interior decoration fashions to the wind. By meshing the eclectic desires, lifestyle and dreamworlds of the client-practitioner into a spatial transformation of this rental apartment, the interior claims a new kind of spatial practice that is not afraid to add more to residential decoration and the interpretation of luxury living. The project is not content to greenwash its sustainable credentials – materials and objects have primarily been sourced from vintage, antique and private collections already in existence. Upcycling, refashioning and big box hardware DIY strategies are privileged and at all times celebrated with equal luxury and attention to sensation as typically specified glamour decor details. The interior advances a practice that is dedicated to wish fulfilment, material exploration and an unashamed reveal of exotic theatricality present in day-to-day life. MDQLTY\_A MDQLTY\_P",
