Abstract
This article will discuss the upcoming Voice Referendum and discuss some of the challenges faced in engaging voters. This paper is written from the perspective of Garrwa Aboriginal scholar, Associate Professor Emma Gavin, and details difficult conversations she has encountered in recent months concerning the Voice debate. This article suggests that efforts be focused on voters who are as-yet-undecided, and further, that care should be taken to ensure we are having conversations that are inclusive of all Australians. Ultimately this article positions the Voice Referendum as a vote on the moral imperative and very soul of Australia and all Australians.
