note = "Funding Information: Thanks to funding from the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council, this (virtual) centre of research excellence brought together six experienced academic biostatisticians from three Melbourne institutions – the Murdoch Children's Research Institute, the University of Melbourne, and Monash University – with funding to support its primary aim of developing the careers of academic biostatisticians, to provide ongoing leadership in the field, via the recruitment and training of postdoctoral researchers in biostatistics. The methodological research of these biostatisticians is linked to genuine collaborative engagement by embedding them in teams of health researchers. This enabled a total of 15 appointments to be supported over its six years of grant funding, many of them with co‐funding from other sources, including the research teams they supported.
