Abstract

Bainite plays a key role among solid-solid phase transformations because it exhibits features of both diffusive and displacive transformation. In this contribution, the roles of carbon and cementite precipitation are discussed with respect to their effects on bainite growth and transformation stasis. Some application examples are also presented illustrating the influence of carbon content and temperature on the kinetics of bainite transformation in low alloyed and TRIP-assisted steels.
