Abstract
Since the 2008-Global Financial Crisis, Italy has become a country of emigration again, especially for its young people. Over five million Italians live abroad, those aged between 35 and 49 representing the largest group, and those aged 18-34 being over one million.
What does it mean to migrate from Italy to Australia today?
Which words and stories do our bodies carry along?
How do we stand on this stolen land in contexts of migrations, frontiers, and encounters?
This project investigates the experience of Italians expats in contemporary Australia by combining lived experience, art, and theoretical research.
