Abstract
Maintaining drawings identity as a question means that drawing is more than an historical category. Drawings have force. The contention of this article is that drawing enables architecture to stage a relation to an outside. It is not that relation. Drawing is prior to the built. However, what is the status of that which is prior and how is the gap that this prior holds in place to be understood. This article is a part of an attempt to provide that account.
