Abstract
Section 45 of the Serious Crime Act 2015 provides for the "offence of participating in activities of organised crime group". This offence, which came into force on May 3, 2015 and which applies across England and Wales, is a novel addition to the statute book. Here I examine the key elements of this new participation offence, and consider the rationale for and necessity of its enactment.
