The new language law of the People's Republic of China

Abstract

The first language law to be compiled in China was published late last year in the journal, Hanzi Wenhua. Here we provide some background to the law, a translation of it and some notes. We also include a brief commentary on the law by the Hanzi Wenhua editors.
