Abstract
The preparation of a medico‐legal report is an exercise in communication between the emergency physician and the legal system. A proper request and informed consent are essential prior to commencing report preparation. A structured format incorporating elements of background information, medical history, physical examination, specimens obtained, treatment provided and opinion is suggested. 1995 Australasian College for Emergency Medicine and Australasian Society for Emergency Medicine
