Abstract

Expression of δ-opioid receptors in sensory neurons is controversial. In this issue of Neuron, Bardoni etal. (2014) present evidence that DOPrs are expressed on mechanosensory neurons involved in detecting nonnoxious touch but are very sparse in μ-opioid receptor-rich nociceptive neurons.
