Abstract

The recent federal election included a discrete political debate about Jewish issues and concerns. Much of this debate was highlighted in the small number of electorates, including particularly Melbourne Ports, which have a sizeable number of Jewish voters. But there was also a more general debate beyond these electorates which focused overwhelmingly on the3 importance of the State of Israel to Jewish citizens. It would appear from his debate and associated voting trends that the unqualified pro-Israel position of the coalition is highly attractive to Jewish voters.
