The Far Infrared Spectra of Tetrahalogenozincate(II) Complexes with Mixed Halide Ligands

Abstract

The far infrared spectra (400-40 cm-1) of the complexes (MePh3As)2 ZnBrnCl4-n (n = 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4), (Et4N)2ZnBrnCl4-n (n = 1, 2, or 3), (Me4N)2ZnBr2Cl2, (pyH)2ZnBr2Cl2, (Et4N)2ZnBrnI4 -n (n = 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4), and (Et4N)2ZnClnI4 -n (n = 1 or 2) have been recorded. Vibrational assignments have been made for the zinc-halogen frequencies and the spectra are discussed in terms of known or probable structures.
