Abstract
This report reports on an innovative, multi-method research evaluation of the ethical capacities of advocates (mainly barristers) within three years of practising with higher rights in England and Wales. It is based on survey evidence, interviews and expert assessment of responses to ethical vignettes and reveals significant weaknesses in the cohort of advocates assessed.
