Abstract
The complexes (Et 4N) 2ZnBr nCl 4-n, (Et 4N) 2ZnBr nI 4-n (n = 1, 2, or 3), (Et 4N) 2ZnCl 2I 2, and (Et 4N) 2ZnClI 3 have been prepared, but (Et 4N) 2ZnCl 3I could not be characterised. X-Ray powder photography has shown that the bromochloro-complexes have structures similar to (Et 4N) 2ZnCl 4 and (Et 4N) 2ZnBr 4 but not to (Et 4N) 2ZnI 4, while the bromoiodo-complexes and (Et 4N) 2ZnClI 3 have structures similar to (Et 4N) 2ZnI 4. The infrared spectra (3100-2800 and 2000-750 cm. -1) of the complexes (Et 4N) 2ZnBr nCl 4-n (n = 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4) differ significantly from those of the iodo-complexes.
