Technical change: developments in Great Britain

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference PaperOtherpeer-review

Abstract

There are many parallels between the debates about technical change in Britain and Australia. The issues are not all new, though they are clearer in the 1980s, given that technical innovations are being introduced throughout the economy. Many of these can replace jobs and this is taking place against a background of relatively high levels of unemployment, which makes it more difficult for people to find alternative employment.
