Abstract

Good experimental procedures for the preparation of both (6α4-²H)- and (6β-²H)-cholest-4-en-3-one are described, based on modification of methods described by Nambara and his coworkers. In addition, some less satisfactory literature methods are commented on and experiments based upon two proposed short, but unsuccessful, routes are described.
