Submillimeter-wave spectrum, far-infrared spectrum, and inversion potential of vinylamine

Abstract

The rotational spectra between 18 and 355 GHz of the Coriolis-coupled 0+ and 0- inversion states of vinylamine have been assigned and fitted to give values of the rotational constants, Coriolis coupling constant (μbr), and inversion splitting (ΔE). The value of ΔE = 45.481(74) cm-1 has been confirmed by measurement of the far-infrared spectrum of vinylamine. The rotational data have been combined with the frequencies of the infrared transitions of the amino wagging vibrations in a large amplitude motion analysis to give a barrier to inversion of 356 cm-1 with minima at bending angles of 50.8°.
