Abstract
The rotary draw bending of rectangular section steel tube is a complex non-linear process. A finite element numerical simulation was used in this paper to study the influence of bending parameters on rotary draw bending properties. It shows that the bigger bending radius can contribute to better bending performance. Although the thickness of the tube takes little effect on bending property, thin-walled tube can result in defects with crack and wrinkle. The
width-height ratio can also affect the bending property significantly. The strain values of tubes showed rapid growth with the decrease of width-height ratio. A comparison between numerical and experimental results shows a good consistence, which makes it reasonable to apply the numerical results on the optimization of bending parameters during experiments.
