Abstract
Morwell coal has been reacted with hydrogen in the presence of three potential coprocessing media, Gippsland atmospheric residue, Kuwait atmospheric residue and a Koppers creosote oil (KC300) both in the presence and absence of a hydrotreating catalyst. The product yields from these reactions are discussed and the quality of the products has been assessed by a variety of spectroscopic and chromatographic techniques.
