Research output: Contribution to conferencePaperpeer-review

As part of a large research programme to establish the inter-relationship between reliability and quality assurance in the UK manufacturing industry a postal questionnaire was initially circulated widely. The present paper addresses itself to reliability management by concentrating on status, structure and activity. The paper discusses the operation of the reliability function, the use of specific techniques and barriers to their acceptance are reported. The collection of data on reliability costs is also discussed. On the basis of the research carried out the paper proposes a strategy for overcoming barriers to the acceptance of reliability by management.
