Abstract
After 87 years of outdated stamp duty legislation in Western Australia under the Stamp Act 1921 (WA), effective 1 July 2008, a new duties regime commenced. The Duties Act 2008 (WA), now written in “plain English”, incorporates major policy changes and is re-written to align itself with the conceptual basis of the duties legislation operating in most other Australian jurisdictions.
