Abstract

Our chapter examines a case of participatory innovation as an instance of staging a transition process where more sustainable indoor climate practices have been promoted. Transition and the related innovative processes increasingly have to take place across system boundaries including sequential intersections of design and use. The research discussed here focuses on a ‘temporary space’ for participatory production of knowledge across design and use, which is both transitory and improvisational in character. We highlight the staging and potential role of such a temporary space in transitioning indoor climate knowledge and practices across engineering systems of design and use.
