    Jeanes traces the relationship between gender, sports, and social capital by discussing the concept of social capital generally and exploring the ways gender intersects with sports to facilitate social capital. She uses a case study of young women’s ‘‘sport for development’’ programs in Zambia to illustrate this relationship, and concludes by discussing future research directions in the field to fill in the gaps in gender research in studies of sports and social capital
