Abstract
Smart sensing using the structural element as a sensor can potentially reduce the cost of structural health monitoring (SHM) and make its application practical. A method of using carbon fiber as sensor to detect the bridge's deformation is discussed. The result shows that carbon fiber can be used to measure long-term deformation adequately.
