SIW slot antennas for passive microwave radiometer system

This paper presents the design of two compact SIW slot antennas with high-Q factor at 18.7 GHz for passive microwave radiometer (PMR) system. The detailed design process of SIW slot antennas have been discussed including the analysis of different slot excitations and radiation leakage optimization technique have been reported. The designed single slot and eight slot array antennas are fabricated with low cost scheme. The proposed single slot and eight slots array antennas demonstrate high-Q as well as gain of 5.85 dB with a bandwidth of 500 MHz and 11.4 dB with a bandwidth of 230 MHz respectively.
