Abstract

This paper presents the design of a compact SIW slot antenna at Ka-band (37 GHz) for Polarimetrie Radiometer System (PMR) for soil moisture measurement. The designed antenna is fabricated and the measured results are compared with the simulation. High Q-factor and high gain are achieved with the proposed design. Different slot excitations and the impact on slot length and gain have been discussed. Complete phased array antenna system model have been developed and beam scanning from -20° to 20° has performed. The proposed antenna shows robust performance which makes this design to be suitable for such radiometer application.
