Abstract
A novel amplifier design for wideband application at a low cost is demonstrated. An average gain of 20 dB for a 4-channel wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) signal is demonstrated with a relatively good gain flatness, varying less than 0.6 dB. The amplifier can be configured for a simultaneous bi-directional dual band transmission in simplex and duplex systems or for a unidirectional wideband transmission.
