Abstract

Polymer melt spinning is an important Industrial process in which the dominant flow is extensional and fluid elasticity significantly affects the mechanics of the process. We authors describe here the result of simulations using two kinetic network models, in order to explore the influence of structural changes on predicted spinline behavior and to compare the relative predictions of the two models. Model parameters have been chosen to be representative of polyethylene terephthalate and polypropylene.
