Abstract
Several optimization methods have been developed to determine the best location of transit points. The method proposed in this paper adopts the minimization of the total travel time criterion. The significant difference between the model discussed and those that follow the same technique is the incorporation of varying population densities along the travel route and of lanes that feed the travel route. A simple mathematical model is developed and the optimum is found through a simulation process. The method is presented as an algorithm.
