Abstract

Simulation and models of the role of topographic instability are used to investigate the evolution of atmospheric teleconnection patterns. Both simple theoretical and complex realistic models are considered in β-plane channel and spherical atmospheric models based on the quasi-geostrophic vorticity equation.
