Abstract
This paper presents a monitoring and handover mechanism which aims to minimize audio visual (AV) service disruption. Service discovery technology like UPnP has limited and inflexible fault tolerance feature. Our proposed monitoring and handover mechanism enhances the functionality of UPnP eventing. It consists of a Fault Analyzing Manager which proactively monitors changes of subscribed events and determines the possible occurrence of service failure. Compared with other existing service continuity architectures, our proposed architecture is able to perform autonomous recovery action based on action list and move away from single point of failure problem. Furthermore, it offers adaptive and proactive fault detection.
