Abstract

Research in science education at the undergraduate level is less extensive than for schooling. A significant number of studies do, however, exist. Some of these have been pioneering in their theoretical approach and in the methodologies they have used to gather and analyse data. Exemplary studies of four aspects of participating in the study of science at the tertiary level are described. Content for study, student conceptions, the teaching situation and laboratory work are each rich fields for research.
