Abstract
Resource sharing is any arrangement in which two or more governments units share financial, human or physical resources. The emphasis in this paper is on the sharing of road plant. Results are reported from a survey of rural Victorian municipalities which provided a profile of their road plant fleet and assessed their experience with, and attitudes towards, road plant resource sharing. While road plant resource sharing is not as common, in a relative sense, as resource sharing in other areas of municipal operations, its potential to reduce costs and improve efficiency will encourage municipalities to assess opportunities for sharing road plant.
