Abstract
Guidelines stress the importance of early detection and intervention for health-related work-problems. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of the rheumatology nurse-led e-health intervention Reuma@work for employees who, as a result of their rheumatoid arthritis (RA), experience problems with their functioning at work. Patients of a rheumatology department learned work-related problemsolving skills using a three-step computer program. Data concerning the feasibility of Reuma@work intervention (satisfaction, intention to use, implementation and practicality, and changes in work situation) were collected using: (1) questionnaires completed by 23 participants at the start of the program and after 3 months, (2) semi-structured interviews with 15 participants after completion of the program, and (3) data on the use of the website. Participants achieved individual changes in different work domains. Most participants were satisfied with Reuma@work, with the website as well as the support by the nurse. Almost all participants indicated the program was useful for working RA patients and would recommend Reuma@work to other working RA patients. The e-health intervention Reuma@work is feasible for use in clinical practice. A study of the cost effectiveness with a larger group of participants is recommended.
