Abstract

This volumes reports on field work carried out in Osaka and Tokyo from April 2013 to March 2014 by sociology students at Doshisha University (Kyoto), supervised by Alison Tokita and Yoichi Okamoto. It contains background to the musical narrative performance of rokyoku, records of interviews with performers and others and a comprehensive audience survey of the two regular performance venues, one each in Osaka and Tokyo.
