Regulating media diversity in Australia: Where to next?

Abstract

This chapter describes how Australian governments have sought to secure diversity of ownership and control across different forms of media, argues that a change in approach is required in view of the changes that have occurred in the industry since the inception of the cross-media ownership rules and outlines and evaluates three options for reform.
