Abstract

The cyclopentadienyllanthanides, (C₅H₅)₂Yb, (C₅H₅C₅H₅)₂Yb(dme) (dme = 1,2-dimethoxyethane), and (C₅H₅)₃M(thf) (M = Sm or Nd; thf = tetrahydrofuran) have been obtained from reactions of lanthanide elements with thallous cyclopentadienide, and (C₅H₅)₃Yb has been prepared by oxidation of (C₅H₅)₂Yb with Tl(C₅H₅).
