Abstract

The continuous quest for low-cost and effective production method of polyurea has yet again become a topic of interest in recent years. Ever since its introduction in the late 80s, the manufacturing of polyurea found a vital position in the industry for its autocatalytic reaction and fast curing on top of its superior mechanical and thermal properties. However, the complexities in its reaction kinetics and thermodynamics greatly impose challenges in yielding smooth and low-cost production methods. This chapter discusses commonly used manufacturing methods of polyurea both in research and in industry. An analysis of how different production methods have effects on the physical-mechanical properties of the resultant polyurea is presented as well. We also include a new and upcoming method of fabricating polyurea thin films via electrospinning which yielded promising results.
