Abstract

Details of the preparation and composition of the fluid M1 are given. Experimental results on the density of the solvent and solution are also presented. Data from various laboratories, on the shear viscosity of M1 are compared and shown to be in good agreement. The intrinsic viscosity of M1 varies exponentially with the temperature and the application of the Flory theory yields a theta temperature of 312 K. The calculated mean square end-to-end distance of the polymer molecule is insensitive to temperature.
