Abstract
Welcome to the 2006 IEEE Symposium on Visual Languages and Human-Centric Computing! This year the conference is held in Brighton, a famous summer holiday venue on the south coast of England. More recently, Brighton has become known as a center of research excellence with both the University of Brighton and University of Sussex producing world-leading research in many areas of science, engineering, and the arts and humanities. VL/HCC 2006 is co-located with the 2006 Symposium on Software Visualisation (SoftVis 2006) and the 2006 conference of the Psychology of Programming Interest Group (PPIG 20006). The week's program features a wide variety of technical papers, experience reports, poster and demonstration sessions, a doctoral symposium, tutorials, and workshops. We also welcome Ron Baecker and Thomas Green who will deliver keynote addresses.
