Abstract
The precipitate microstructures in magnesium alloy WE54, aged isothermally at 250°C, were characterized using transmission electron microscopy. Ageing at 250°C was found to involve precipitation of three separate metastable phases preceding formation of the equilibrium phase β. The intermediate products include an unidentified phase formed as fine-scale {1120}α platelets and the phases β′ and β1.
